For here or to go?
Tuesday, November 29th, 2005well.. Here i was in the US on 3rd of november 2005, for the very first time after a gruelling 24 hour battle with lufthansa. First thing i did was to go and get some dough. Luckily i already knew what “For here or to go?” meant. But i was not prepared for the barrage of questions the guy shot at me, what kind of bread, what kind of cheese, what kind of fries and the options for a coffee boggles my mind to this day. My mother dint ask me these many questions when i told her that i have a girlfriend and i want to marry her
. I took a taxi to my apartment for which i had to pay 100$
. Hmm.. Not a bad career option.
Work was hectic, as expected, but we went around a bit on weekends, San Fransisco was a great place, so were some other places that we went to. I will spare you guys the details. Just like any other desi, i was amazed at roads, freeways, cleanliness etc etc. After a while i began trusting the traffic lights so much that i stopped looking both ways when the lights say “walk” cause i was sure that “in the US everybody is scared of the pedestrian and everybody follows traffic rules”. Well.. that was untill i got to New York where i was almost proved wrong posthumously
. New York reminded me more of bangalore traffic, or even worse, cause people atleast dont jump the red light s and they usually keep an eye out for people crossing the streets. Traffic was total chaos there.
This by the way is my first blog ever, not sure if i am good at it, but i am liking it already. I think thats enough for now. I am out of here.
